Joan Staiger

Joan (Kuhn) Staiger, 94, of Stony Brook, N.Y., passed away peacefully in her home on July 12, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Joan was born on December 19, 1927 in Flushing Hamlet, N.Y. to Donald and Dorothy Kuhn. She married William Staiger and together they had three children John, Michael and Kathleen.
A loving and devoted sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend, Joan was kind to all. Anyone that ever met Joan, fell in love with her. She spent a life dedicated to – and cooking for – those she loved, volunteering for hospice and collecting antiques. An avid reader, Joan was always impressively informed.
Joan is predeceased by her parents, Donald and Dorothy Kuhn; her brother Jim Kuhn; her husband William Staiger; sons John and Michael Staiger; and her granddaughter Jaime Kittredge. She is survived by her brother Ralph Kuhn; her loving daughter Kathleen Dunne and her husband Edward; her grandchildren Keith Dunne, Erin Pender and her husband Seneca, Shane Dunne and his wife Erin, and Patrice Dunne; her great-grandchildren Jamyn, Avery, Hayden, London and Lachlan; her unwavering companion Peggy Kruckel and her husband Michael, Richard and Jessica and their families.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Saturday, August 13th from 1-3pm at Moloney’s Port Jefferson Station Funeral Home with a funeral service being at 2:30pm.
