Joan B. Huey

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend peacefully passed away on August 3, 2020 in her home.   Her family was blessed to be able to spend time with her at the end of her journey.  To the end she was at peace with her family and the life she led.   Joan was born in Corning, New York and was raised in nearby Elmira. She graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1951, and married her beloved husband, Clayton the following year. In 1954 they moved to Long Island, New York with their young twin boys, James and Michael. They eventually settled in Center Moriches where they made their life together. They had two more children, Leanne and Laura. Joan’s priority was always taking care of her home and family, as she was a dedicated wife and mother. When all four children were of school age, she obtained a position as a bookkeeper for the Vigliotta Duck Farm in East Moriches, where she not only worked but was embraced as part of the Vigliotta family. She remained with them until her retirement. Later in life she volunteered at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Manorville, as well as the Outreach Program at St John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Center Moriches. Those who worked and volunteered with her found her to be kind, generous, and loyal. In addition to her husband and four children, she is survived by her daughters-in-law Coreen Huey and Doreen Huey, and son-in-law Thomas Johnson. Her seven grandchildren Dawn and husband Jonathon Rowe; David Huey and wife Janice; Becky Huey; Lauren and husband Michael Kleban; Andrew Huey; Emily Johnson; and Sarah and husband Michael Briles. Her seven Great-Grandchildren, Skylar, Landon, Laila, Sierra, Brianna, Anderson, and Braylin.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St John the Evangelist R.C. Church or East End Hospice.
