Poonvongprasert, Jaroon (Jerry) of Huntington Station, NY passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on February 5, 2024. Loving husband of Supaporn (Sue), caring father of Ben (Tara) and Joy. Cherished “Papi” of Cole, Lila, and Noah.

Jaroon was born in Betong,Yala Province, Thailand in 1943. He was predeceased by his parents Poonpan and Muksee Saepoon. Jaroon had 10 siblings and is survived by his youngest brother, Tongchai,of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Both Jaroon and Tongchai studied together at Adamson University where Jaroon earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering on a full scholarship. Jaroon is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins both in the US and Thailand.

After receiving his degree, Jaroon emigrated to the United States with his wife Supaporn (Sue.) They settled in Huntington Station, NY. It was here that they started their family, welcoming their son Ben, and daughter Joy. During this time, Jaroon worked as a chemist for Underwriters Laboratories in Melville and remained there until his retirement.

Jaroon remained true to his culture and was a devoted member of Vajiradhammadadip Temple in Centereach. Jaroon cherished his close bond with the Thai Community on Long Island.

Jaroon enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved a good golf game, a hearty meal, and traveling. He made many trips back to Thailand with his family, Jaroon was also an avid reader.

Above all else, Jaroon adored his family. He was a loving husband to Supaporn for 52 years. He was so proud of his children, and was elated to watch them receive their college degrees, with his daughter becoming a Doctor.

Jaroon’s greatest blessings were by far his grandchildren. He enjoyed surprising them with candy, and coming over to watch them play. His grandchildren brought him so much joy and his legacy will live on through them.

Jaroon was a kind, humble loving man and will be remembered as such. He will be missed beyond measure and will remain in our hearts forever.
