Janet B. Rizzieri is now at peace. This smart, funny, caring and generous woman was beloved by all who knew her. Born the grandchild of Italian immigrants, she felt most at home among her big extended family, especially with her cousins Kathleen, John, Sal, Danny, Eddie, Frank and Eleanor. She doted on her wonderful parents, Enzo and Millie, who taught her that humor can get her through anything, and that there is always a light to be found in the darkness. Her older brother, Billy, a Vietnam Veteran, always made her laugh and was her hero. In the mid-1970’s while attending Hofstra University, Janet met the love of her life, John, and they have been married for 39 years. Together they traveled the US and Europe, created a loving home, and found serenity beside the ocean. Janet was known as The Aunt to her nieces, Maria and Nicole, and sought to support the adventures of their lives while reminding them to seek out the magic in the everyday. Janet and John have one daughter, Jordan, who inherited her mother’s high cheekbones, love of reading, and the ability to name that tune in under 5 seconds. Janet’s resilience, humor, and passion are survived by her sisters-in-law Debi and Mary, her best friend Shauna, and her neighbor Peg. She will be greatly missed, but her stories and her memory will live on.
