James Kreider, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather

Jim, a loving and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024 at the age of 97.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria, and his brothers, Thomas and Terence (“Ted”) Kreider, he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. His unwavering devotion to his wife while she suffered from Rheumatoid arthritis and the onset of Alzheimer’s disease till her passing was to watch a Saint caring for someone they loved so deeply. Each morning, he greeted her with a good morning kiss, a smiling face and the soothing sounds of Pavarotti's “Ave Maria”. He is survived by his brother, Robert (“Bobby”) Kreider, his five children: James (Fuji) Kreider, Sally (Dan) Lee, Suzanne (Robert) Smyth, Richard (Marianne) Kreider, and Charles (Cherry) Kreider, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Jim was part of the “greatest generation” serving in the navy during World War II and a man of many interests. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as playing a round of golf, watching the New York Giants, and spending quality time with his family. He had a particular fondness for desserts and always seemed to have room for one more cookie.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kind and gentle spirit, coupled with his quick wit and infectious laughter, left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Moloney’s Funeral Home in Hauppauge (840 Wheeler Rd, Hauppauge, NY 11788) from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 7:00pm – 9:00pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 9:45am at St. Thomas More RC Church (115 Kings Highway, Hauppauge, NY 11788). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Thomas More Church or Iona University.
