Jamella Charlene Carr Farley, age 81, died peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2024. She was a resident of Oakdale, New York, but spent most of her adult life in Bohemia, New York. She was born in New York City on June 11, 1943, to the late James and Mildred Smith Carr. Jamella grew up in New York City with her two brothers, James Hooker Carr of Danbury, CT and James Charles Carr of Sayville, New York, and graduated from Cathedral High School in New York City. Jamella viewed her number one role in life as being a loving wife to her late husband, James Wakefield Farley and a supportive mother to her four children: Melissa Farley Tyler (Thomas J. Tyler); Allison Marie Brennan (Patrick J. Brennan); James Michael Farley and Brian John Farley. She also adored her six grandchildren: Sean Brennan, Kyle Brennan, Ryan Tyler, Matthew Tyler, Faith Farley and James Farley. Jamella worked at Dorne & Margolin for many years to help put her children through college. Although she never went to college herself, she was determined to provide that opportunity to her children. In her spare time, Jamella loved to read, spend quiet time at home, and also enjoyed being with her sister-in-law, Lynne Farley. She recently decided that she was a New York Yankees fan and enjoyed watching games and reruns of games. Besides her husband and parents, Jamella was predeceased by her two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth McIntyre Carr and Angelina Romeo Carr. Calling hours will be Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Moloney’s Bohemia Funeral Home, 1320 Lakeland Avenue, Bohemia, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, with burial immediately following at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Willwood Avenue in Farmingdale, NY.
