Linss, a beacon of love and dedication in the hearts of many, departed this world on August 23, 2024, leaving behind a legacy woven from her passion, hard work, and the warmth she extended to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on November 15, 1928, in Bergen, Germany, then emigrating from Munich to New York in 1956 with her growing family, Irmgard's journey through life was marked by resilience, creativity, and a love for her family that knew no bounds.
As a devoted wife and partner, Irma played an instrumental role in her husband's Long Island woodworking business, meticulously managing the financial aspects until their relocation to Arizona. There, she transitioned into the role of Financial Director at the Scottsdale Foundation for the Handicapped, showcasing her commitment to service and community. Her sharp intellect and unwavering work ethic were evident in all her endeavors, and her proudest accomplishments included building a successful business alongside her husband, Bill, creating exquisite furniture pieces that adorned royal palaces and prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art’s Karl Springer collection.
Irmgard's passion extended beyond her professional life. A hard-working homemaker, she was known for her culinary prowess, delighting family and friends with her Bavarian specialties, including Sauerbraten, Pork Roast, and her unforgettable Bread Dumplings. She always baked Xmas Stollen and cookies, especially Munchener Lebkuchen.
Within her nurturing home, she created an environment rich in music and laughter, where shows and concerts were cherished family moments. Her affinity for the outdoors was palpable; she reveled in camping at national parks across the country and explored the beauty of Europe, always embracing the wonders of nature with an adventurous spirit.
In her leisure, Irmgard found joy in sewing, knitting, and needlepoint works, channeling her creativity into beautiful projects that reflected her artistic side. Her dedication was particularly highlighted when she painstakingly reproduced Roger Dean’s intricate art from the YesSongs album for her beloved son Bill, a feat requiring over 50,000 stitches. Such expressions of love through craft exemplified the heart she poured into every aspect of her life.
Irmgard is survived by her cherished sons, William S. Linss and Peter Linss, as well as her beloved sisters, Martha and Dorle. She joins in eternal rest her husband, William P. Linss, and their daughter, Monica Linss, who await her with open arms.
