Irene Sirojini Ragoonath

Irene Ragoonath, retired caregiver, passed away on December 2nd, 2021 at the age of 87.

Irene is survived by her 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
She was born in Poole in Trinidad and Tobago in 1934 to Jaimangal and Pachali Sookoo and was the eldest of their 10 children. She emigrated to the United States in the 60’s where she became a caregiver, raised 3 generations of her family, and lived the rest of her life..
Irene loved to care for others. She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for her family and she never let anyone visit without feeding them or letting them leave her home empty handed. She loved sewing and was a people person. She would go shopping with her youngest brother, Gary, on a weekly basis and she would take every opportunity to travel and visit her family. She would always make time to visit her home of Trinidad and Tobago to see family and friends. The greatest joy of her life was spending time with the people she loved. She was a joyful person, who was always able to see the humor in life.
She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her as the Irene who infused kindness, joy and warmth into the lives she touched.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic there will be no funeral service. If you’re able, light a candle for her on Monday, December 6th, which will be the date of her cremation.
