Indiraben Joshi, a figure of reverence in her family, embodied the Upanishad's teaching, “Matru Devo Bhava” (revere your mother as God). Her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and loving friend to many were a testament to the qualities this statement upholds.
Indiraben Harshadray Joshi, 84, of Roslyn Heights, New York, passed away on Monday, 2 September 2024. She was born on 11 April 1940 in Bhilodia, Gujarat, India, to Tribhovandas and Parsanben Pathak. She migrated to the United States in 1984 and settled in Queens, New York, with her two children.
Indiraben, a product of a Hindu, cultured family, was a beacon of wisdom and guidance. Her deep understanding of her heritage and traditions allowed her to guide those in need calmly. She firmly believed in upholding Hindu values, and her love for family and friends was evident in her actions. She loved spoiling her grandkids, reading religious books, cooking, singing, and indulging in sweets, especially those made from milk and cheese.
Indiraben is survived by her husband, Harshadray Joshi; daughter, Jagruti Dave, with son-in-law Anil Dave, and a son, Sanket Joshi; daughter-in-law, Urvashi Joshi; and grandchildren, Param (wife Nirali) and Isha.
Her compassionate nature and unwavering love for her family and friends, a love that knew no bounds, will be cherished forever.
