Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to Fulvio and Joan Diminich (Ronkonkoma, NY) who passed away days apart. Fulvio and Joan were married for 41 years, devoted parents of Leila (Kyle Sand) and Jason (Nikki Diminich) and cherished grandparents of Jack, Ava and Madison.
Fulvio, born in Istria, was a kind, funny and generous man, who would give the shirt off his back to his many friends and family. A selfless and dedicated husband, Fulvio worked at the IRS in Holtsville for 35 years.
Joan, was a beautiful and talented woman who was born in Brooklyn and loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world. Everyone who met Joan felt her warmth, enthusiasm and creativity. She was strong, fierce, a superhero and a fighter. Her strength is a lesson and inspiration to us all.
They were from different cultures and different than night and day yet despite their disabilities, they built a beautiful life together. A life with family, lifelong friends, many vacations, holidays, lots of parties, summers spent in their swimming pool and even winning dance contest trophies. Together they had a positive and lasting influence on those they left behind. They were a staple in the community modeling perseverance, grit, and love and we are all better people to have known them.
We are heartbroken but know they are together and their love for each other conquered all. They will be together, forever, in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in honor of Fulvio and Joan to one of the following foundations that played such an important role in their lives:
