Fred N. Ferri

Ferri, Fred N. of Smithtown, NY passed away on August 7, 2024 at the age of 91. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Ferri Stein; son-in-law Terry Stein, a grandson, Edward (Teddy) Joy and brother Andrew (Rose). Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, June; and his two sons, Fred J. Ferri and Douglas J. Ferri. Fred was born in Brooklyn in 1933 and grew up in Lynbrook, NY. He graduated from Lynbrook High School where he played both Basketball and Baseball. He was a star athlete on the Varsity Basketball Team which won a County Championship. He enlisted in the Army in 1953 serving active duty for 2 years and then 6 years in the Army National Guard. He met his future wife June, also from Lynbrook, when they were 11. They were HS Sweethearts and married in 1955. They moved to Smithtown in 1961 and raised 3 children. His family was always most important to him. Fred and June had a second home in Spring Hill, FL and enjoyed 20 years of retirement there. His career was in the Mechanical Engineering and Nuclear Power Fields; he visited every Nuclear Power Plant in the US while working for Target Rock Corp./Curtiss Wright. He had many friends and he and June developed many new friends during their time in Florida and while traveling. Fred was always outgoing with a quick wit and great sense of humor. His second love was Golf. He played many courses over the years but the highlight for him was Pebble Beach. He was involved with Smithtown Landing Men’s Golf Association for many years and served as President. 

Reposing Moloney’s Hauppauge Funeral Home, 840 Wheeler Rd. (Route 111), Hauppauge, NY. Visiting Sunday 2:00 – 5:00 PM. A Prayer Service will be held Monday 10AM – 11AM with Interment following Smithtown Cemetery, Smithtown, NY.
