Frank Tassielli died August 18th, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Frank was born in Sannicandro, Bari, Italy, in 1940 and arrived in this country in 1946, along with his
mother Angela and sister Mary.
Frank graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and then went on to serve four years in
the U.S. Air Force.
Upon his discharge he began his higher education at Westchester Community College and then he
received his Bachelor’s in Secondary Education from Albany State.
He went on to teach high school English and then became a guidance counselor. All told, he served the
Sachem Community for 35 years.
Upon his retirement in 2001, Frank joined the OLLI senior program at Stony Brook University. His
involvement with this program inspired him to self-publish a book about his family’s
struggles to arrive in America and his own adventurous life.
Frank is survived by his wife Diane, his son Frank and Frank’s fiancée Donna, his daughter Sharon and
her husband, Joe and his loving grandchildren, Alexa, Nick and Dani. He is also survived by his sisters
Mary Stangarone and Grace Jackson and many nieces and nephews.
