Frances M. Schultz, 82, passed away on April 10, 2020 at the Veterans Home in Stonybrook, New York where she resided with her husband Kenneth. She was a devoted wife and proud mother of 10 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Lower East Side of New York City, she was the youngest, and last surviving sibling of 11 children born to Antonio and Angelina Sano.
As a young registered nurse taking blood donations from a group of police officers, Frances met the love of her life when one of those officers, Kenneth, asked her on a date. They married on April 20, 1963. In 1965 they packed up their 2-year-old twin boys in a Volkswagen Beetle and moved out to Medford, New York, where they continued to raise and grow their family.
She worked for over 30 years as a nurse at the neighborhood pediatric office of Dr. Spieler and Dr. Hummel where she was affectionally known as “Nurse Fran”. She was an enthusiast of New York Lottery, visiting casinos, eating at Red Lobster, listening to music and playing her organ. She loved to play cards and board games with her family.
Frances is survived by her husband Kenneth; her children, Anthony (wife Denise), Andrea Rasso (husband Bradley), John (wife Jana), Michael, Joseph (wife Colleen), Maryann Johnson (husband Jason), Christina (Jason Donnell) and Peter (Brenda); her grandchildren, Melanie, Anthony, Kathleen, Michael, Tyler, Austin, Hudson; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Zayne.
She was predeceased by sons, Kenneth and Adam; siblings, Philip Sano, Louis Sano, Mary Palumbo, Alexander Sano, Angelo Sano, Americo Sano, Aurelio Sano, Gloria Cocheo, Benedict Sano and Anthony Sano; and parents, Antonio and Angelina Sano.
