Those who really knew and loved Ed Halverson, understood what “no problem” meant. His love for life was evident in the way that he lived. Ed’s entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with his eternal sense of optimism propelled him to build an amazing life full of joy, business ventures, and relationships most can only dream about. Ed never took his life or family for granted with sincere gratitude and reflection of where he came. There is no shortage of Ed’s vivid stories of the past.
From The Great Depression on the farm with a horse named Daisy; talking about his family and friends in the “bush” in Madison, Wisconsin; to his life in the Air Force in North Korea (and Willie Nelson), one can get a glimpse of where it all began that led him to job at Grumman and his young adult life with wife, Marilyn and seven children in Ridge, NY. These were the roots that led to his stories of being “on the job” in the Suffolk County Police Department; John Gotti arrest; to his cases and partners on the Homicide Squad; Patriot Security; and in most recent years, the times at OTW and memorable boat trips on the Entertainer with his wife Mary, friends, and family.
To sum up the “bottom line” of Ed’s life, it was undeniably well-lived and full of love and generosity in service to others and his country. From the helm of his boat with a cocktail in his hand, Ed was on top of the world. Edward Mark Halverson leaves behind an amazing legacy of family and friends to include his seven children (Judy, Bob, Kathy, Eddie, Donald, Peggy, and John), his wife Mary’s four children (John, Joseph, Thomas, and Catherine), 26 grandchildren combined, as well as, all of the close friends and dear patrons he spent his full life with.
