Claire Francis Hermes

Claire F. Hermes, R.N., Beloved widow of Henry C. Hermes. Loving mother to Stephanie, Henry, Laurie-Anne, Son-in-law Mike, daughter-in-law Louise and step-children Margaret and Jeff Langdon. Loving grandmother to Michael, Jillian, Henry, Samantha and granddaughter-in-law Meghana. Loving God-mother to Jeffrey Langdon and Jeannie Vonderscheer.
Claire brought joy and happiness to her family and everyone she met for 90 years. She graduated from Mt. Sinai School of Nursing. She spent the majority of that time working as the head nurse in the Oncology unit at Mid Island Hospital, where she saved lives and eased others. She worked until 1994, after working a long career she decided to spend more time with her loving family.
Family was always the number 1 priority for her. Claire was very active in AARP, a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels and assisted with Senior Clubs including calling Bingo. Claire was very active in her grandchildren’s lives, traveling with them, attending the important events in their lives, going to concerts, sporting events and any other activity she could. Her grandchildren where the light of her life and she did as much as physically possible for them. Along with spending time with her Grandchildren, Claire loved to travel, go out to restaurants, go to the movies, go to plays and watch television among other things. Claire also had a real soft spot for sweets.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the CMA foundation (Https://cmafoundation.org/donate/) to help support music education and the arts nationwide and/or a nursing scholarship, which the link will be posted later today.
