Charles K. Blomberg

Charles Kevin Blomberg passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, surrounded by his family. Charles was born on May 3, 1936 to Mary C. (O’Rourke) and William Blomberg. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Bridget (Keane), his children MaryClaire (William Krumholz), John (Kathryn), Charles, and Patrick (Deirdre), cherished grandfather of William, Sean (Meredith), Kevin, Kaitlin (Heber), Bridget (Josh), Aidan, Christopher (Erica), Bryan (Monique), Charles, Colleen, Kevin, Ciara, Owen, and Patrick, and great grandchildren Colton, Wyatt, Eliana, Madison, Caleb, Maia, Menalynn, JJ, Jenamee, Myles, Nova, Antonio and Athena. He was predeceased by his siblings Sister Jean William, CSJ (Mary), William, John, Jean, Joseph, Thomas and Catherine. 

Charles was born in Kings Park and raised in Central Islip where he met his wife, Bridget. They were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Kings Park, settled in the original family home and raised their children there. As a young man, Charles was a volunteer fire fighter and a member of the Hobo’s, the Central Islip Fire Department’s Drill Team. Charles retired as a detective with the Suffolk County Police Department after 30 years. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish, faithfully serving as the head usher for many years.

Charles loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, proudly selected to be a member the Suffolk County Police Olympics Team.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Charles’ name.
