Chandrika “Sato” Kanhai, the sixth of ten children, was born on February 2, 1960 to Tejram and Urmilla Kanhai. He passed away on February 21, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.He was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather who always tried to serve others, both personally and professionally. His helpful and giving nature was evident to those he came in contact with, whether for a brief or lengthy time. He loved spending time with family, telling stories and sharing jokes, especially over a good meal. He was a dedicated Lord Shiva devotee and often could be found meditating with his rudraksha mala, which stayed with him until the very end. His parents, sister Rama, and four brothers, Dindyal, Bhuneshwar, Omanand, and Chabinath, preceded him in death. He is survived by four siblings: Bhawan “Brodzo” Kanhai (Deokie), Indra Mangal (Doodnauth), Neela Persaud (Sugie) and Sunita Kanhai. Chandrika is also survived by his loving wife Hamewanti “Hemo,” children: Radha (Pradeep), Seeta, and Mahendra, and grandsons: Veer and Keeran.His warm and loving spirit will forever be remembered by all those whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends for Visitation on Monday, February 24 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 25 at 9:00 AM with cremation to follow at 11:30 AM.
