We have gathered to celebrate the life of Cedric UriYAH Johnson Sr.
Cedric Johnson Sr., affectionately know as “Bolo”, was born January 21, 1938 in Ancon Canal Zone, Panama; the 6th of 10 children born to Arthur E. Johnson and Hilda W. Gayle- Johnson. He was 83 years old at the time of his transition on February 4, 2021.
Bolo was blessed with a grand stature and spirit, with a larger than life personality filling every room he entered. In high school he made great use of his gifts, slaying all competitors in the track and field high jump. He had a great sense of humor and compassionate heart which made him a wonderful father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great grand father and friend. As the last surviving male elder of the Johnson Family he became a cornerstone that held the Family together and leaving a large shoe to fill. He was a father to many beyond his own children and a brother to ALL. With a vibrant soul and passion for the culinary arts, he loved to entertain his family and friends while engaging in spirited debate. A devout student of life, he was able to engage with those from all walks of life on a vast multitude of subject matter. Those who encountered Bolo say they were blessed to know him and can honor his memory by living life to the fullest as he did: Learning, Loving, and Laughing until the end.
On February 4th 2021, Bolo passed peacefully, surrounded by those he loved and loved him back. He departed after a courageous battle against age and illness. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, altruism, and unconditional love of family and stranger alike. But his greatest legacy was his children, Cedric Johnson Jr., Monique Johnson- Holder, and Jennifer Johnson; daughter in law, Heather, and son in law, Keith. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Chade, Ephron, Lemuel, Imhotep, Ahotep, UriYAH (Sheriff), and Christopher; in addition to a continuing legacy of great grand children Cynia, London, Mason, Nala, and Legend. He is survived by five sisters, Sylvia, Sarah, Pricilla, June, and Joy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all loved him dearly. He was proceeded in death by his father, Arthur Johnson, his mother, Hilda Johnson, elder brothers, Teddy & Arthur Jr., his sisters, Iris & Thelma, and several friends and family who shall surely meet and embrace him with the famous Johnson Family “Whoop- Whoop, Whoop- Whoop!!!!”
His devoted & loving wife of 60 years, Agnes Johnson, shall miss him greatly.
