Carl Alexander Vricella, born on November 12, 1946 to the Late William and Edna Vricella. He is survived by his sons Carl (Colleen), Jeffrey (Justine) and Larry (Arielle). His beloved grandchildren Alexandria, Carl, Amelia, Lenora, Elliza, Lucas, Shannon and Kevin and his cherished Great-grandchildren Arabella, Thomas, Alexander, Kayden and Kole. Patricia, RoseAnne and loving caregiver Bill.
Carl spent most of his time as a Master Plumbing Foreman, for over 40 years in the 5 Boroughs, working on any building plan imaginable, ensuring that the finished job was a safe place to work or call home for many people. Socially, Carl was always the life of any party. He was always the first to crack a joke or tell a funny story that made people he had just met feel comfortable with his calming personality. Although his Washington Redskins always let him down, he always believed. As for Baseball, the NY Yankees were his one and only favorite place where he turned to celebrate winning and Championships.
In life, as challenges came his way, he always kept smiling and was never one to complain to anyone; rather, he looked forward with confidence that things would be okay. Always the optimist, he lived life to what he thought was the fullest (his way) Never questioning or regretting any decisions he made, no matter the results. Carl’s pure sense of resolve allowed him to always focus on the future and what was possible. He loved to eat seafood with his sons and have many cocktails (martinis with olive were his favorite) to spice up his nights, second only to spending time with his grandchildren, keeping him young at heart. He also enjoyed sitting outside by the fireplace, listening to music with his family. He also loved watching movies, especially old westerns.
In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing trips on Long Island waters, on small motorboats with his family, playing wiffle ball in Patchogue at the bungalow and traveling to places like Hawaii, Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Mexico. Carl loved to sing along with Dean Martin, Billy Joel, Elvis, and many other famous entertainers of his time, singing to us all during family holidays.
Toward the end of his journey in life, he maintained his sense of charm and humor with his responses that made everyone say “yep that’s Carl" as he was fighting to stay with us. That humor, charm and his infinitely optimistic spirit cements his legacy through his children and grandchildren as a gift to them. His message was to live focused on the pursuit of true happiness and positivity. In his final days when it was time to finally let go, we can be sure he was ready for the next chapter, without fear or doubt, but with complete anticipation of being with Edna and Billy in eternal peace in heaven.
We love you Carl, Dad, Grandpa. Your spirit lives on within all of us, who forever love you.
