Cameron Orlando Greenidge of Messiah Street, St. John, Barbados went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at the age of 72 where he passed away peacefully at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY.
Cameron was born in St. John, Barbados on November 1, 1947, to father Vernon Greenidge and mother Matilda Craig-Greenidge. The third child out of six children, Elloretta Sealy, Hazel Brewster, Heather Gill, Patrick Craig and late Vernon Greenidge; Cameron was able to complete his education up to high school where he graduated. Eager to build a better future for his life, wife, Jennifer Greenidge of 51 years, and children, he came to The United States of America. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to be a skilled solderer (welder) for 30 years. After the company that he had worked for so many years closed, Cameron later worked as a Full-time school bus driver until he retired in 2016. Cameron would then spend his days in the home that he and Jennifer had labored so hard to build near the sandy beaches of beautiful Barbados. Cameron would travel to and from New York to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cameron loved to read his Bible and watch Discovering The Jewish Jesus with Rabbi Schneider in addition to staying busy from working on his car with cousin Erskine, crossword puzzles, watching TV shows such as National Geographic, The Last Frontier, and Alaskan Bush People but would fall asleep watching his classic westerns. Cameron enjoyed a variety of sports from American football, cricket to his favorite horseback riding. When it came to food, he wouldn’t mind driving three hours to get a taste of Bajan pudding and sauce. Most notably of all, Cameron was a man of faith. His faith in Jesus shaped his character, his worldview and reached those who came across his path with his love and humility. Cameron would want to be remembered best that he fought the “good fight”. He finished the race and he is rejoicing with his Savior and Lord Jesus.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer Greenidge; four children: Donna Greenidge, Diana Greenidge, late Michael Greenidge, and Debbie Greenidge; grandchildren: Kimberly Magnani, Mark Williams, James O’Connor, and Destanie Greenidge; great-grandchildren: Grace, Yosef, Rachel, and Joanna Magnani; sons-in-law: Joseph Magnani and Peter. Cameron also leaves behind beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
