Audrey S. Prochilo

Audrey S. Prochilo of Port Jefferson, NY, passed peacefully from this life on July 25, 2016 following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony L. Prochilo, loving mother of Nancy Velez, Lynn Burke (Terrence), James Prochilo, Ann Prochilo, Margaret McCoy (Mark), Amy Goldstein (David), cherished grandmother of Jessica, Sara, Laurie, Clare, Audrey, Angela, Anthony, Ann, Elizabeth, Leanne and Jeanne, and great grandmother of Phineas (Finn) and Audrianna Grace. Her dear brother and sister, John Fisher and Irene Martin (Fisher), respectively, predeceased her.

Audrey was born on July 21, 1928, to Walter and Mary (MacLaren) Fisher, immigrants from Glasgow, Scotland. She grew up in Portland, Maine and married her husband, Tony in 1951. They moved to Port Jefferson in 1959 where they raised their six children. Audrey worked for Port Jeff Village Recreation where she led the senior citizens’ group and coordinated trips for residents to the NYC Opera and Broadway theatres. Her deep love for her family, friends and the Port Jefferson community was ever-present in her daily interactions.

Audrey’s open heart and her extraordinary ability to engage people made being in her presence a joy. She was fun-loving — always ready to break into song, laugh at a joke or spark a bit of mischief. These memories will forever bring smiles to the faces of those who loved her.

Family and friends may express their condolences on July 27, 2016, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the Mount Sinai Congregational Church on 233 North Country Road, Mt. Sinai, NY 11766.

A Memorial Service will be held on July 28, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mt. Sinai Congregational Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Audrey’s name to “The Dream Fund” at the Mt. Sinai Congregational Church.
