Anthony was born in 1938 during a troubling time in our history. The Great Depression was lingering and a World War was on its way. Born into a family of mixed siblings, two older sisters Concetta and Carol and a brother Santos. His father was a bricklayer and his mother who passed at a young age was at home as was not unusual during those times. She called him “Anthony mama”. As a child during these times it was a struggle in his native Brooklyn and he would get by on his own wit. His family was split at times because of his mother’s illness and would have periods of being alone as his siblings were farmed out to other families or facilities. He survived and stayed close to his siblings his entire life. He joined the Air Force and almost died when a snow drift entombed him and only by the grace of God and a few determined soldiers, he was saved. He married the love of his life Rose, moved to Long Island and had three amazing daughters. A hairdresser by day, commuting to Brooklyn, and a dad and husband by night. He had no hobbies( except his family) but loved to dance, sew, play cards and make amazing valances and traveled all over the world with his married daughters and wife. Whenever someone needed him, he was there without question and no matter what time it was or how far away. When his daughter had cancer he was at every treatment making her laugh and dancing with the nurses. When his other daughter was in terrible car accident he nursed her back to health until she could walk again. He never turned down an invitation and was the life of the party always. When his wife sucommed to cancer he moved in with his daughter for nearly 5 years. His later years were spent in assisted living He loves spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his devoted daughters and son in laws. He had a great sense of humor and a very old school view of the world. His strong willed daughters enlightened him often to which he would just grit his teeth and nod. He will be missed by 3 daughters, 3 son in laws, 5 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren and dozens of extended family members.
