ANTHONY EDWARD PAVEK, JR. “TONY”
Anthony Edward Pavek, Jr., 64, of Farmingville, New York passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at
Stony Brook University Hospital, after a five-year battle with cancer.
Tony was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on April 23, 1957. He grew up in a Military Family that traveled
the world with his parents and siblings. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree, a Master’s in Liberal Arts,
and a Master’s of Science in Physical Engineering, from Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY. He was
kind, caring, brilliant, and loved to teach Science and Physics. His greatest and best student is his
youngest daughter, Antonia, who will be attending Princeton University in the Fall. Tony also loved and
served our country in the United States Navy.
Tony was a natural scholar and educator. He instilled knowledge in young minds and was passionate
about the love of learning, always wanting to keep his mind sharp. He taught his daughter what it meant
to be strong and persevere through adversity. Despite being ill he still actively supported her throughout
her studies and wanted nothing more than to see her graduate. He was a devoted husband and father,
always putting family first. Everywhere he traveled he inspired others and everywhere became an
educational experience for his young daughter. He was a kind soul with many passions up until the very
end. He will always support and be there for his family, now in spirit.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony E. Pavek Sr., Henry and Virginia Kassel, and his brother,
Joseph G. Pavek.
Tony is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shuk Hing Pavek; his children Antonia, Anthony, Amanda, his
furry son “Oliver”, three grandsons, Anthony, Lucas, and Yoseph; three sisters Christine Moore (Gregory)
of Tequesta, FL, Ginny Wilson (Chuck) of Fishersville, VA, Susan Dandola (Daniel) of Great River, NY, his
brother James Pavek (Diane) of Fort Salonga, NY, father-in law and mother-in law Hiu Keung Mak and
King Ho Wong, two sister-in-laws Monita (Alan) Ching of Sydney, Australia, Clara (Alex) Tran of East
Setaket, and three brother-in-laws Richie Mak, Victor (Amy) Mak, and Walter (Aileen ) Mak of Hong
Kong. In addition, he is survived by his nieces and nephews–Christine Castelli (Anthony and Joseph),
Amber Pavek, Ashley Garner, Billy Garner (Cinthia), Gary Ching, Richard Tran, Malcolm Mak, Chole Mak,
Marielle Pavek, Courtland Pavek, Christopher Dandola, James Dandola. Along with his uncles Hugh Tate
(Theresa) of Lindenhurst, NY, and Father Joseph Tate of the Holy Cross Order at Notre Dame, IN. Survived
by his aunt, Marianne Henson, of Patchogue, NY; along with many first and second cousins.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, on Monday, March 21, 2022. The Memorial
Service given by Pastor Josh will start at 3 pm at Maloney Funeral Home, 825 Main Street, Holbrook, NY
11741.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Tony’s name to the Multiple Myeloma Cancer Research Foundation will
