Anne J. Amendola
April 23, 1931 — May 7, 2020
On Thursday, May 7, 2020, Anne Jeanette Amendola, loving mother of three children and grandmother of two, passed away at the age of 89.
Anne was born on April 23, 1931 in Canastota, NY to Edmund and Doris (Parkhurst) Ransom. After graduation from high school, she worked in New York City for Wanamaker’s Department Store and as a model for Abraham and Strauss. On April 9, 1951, she married Raymond Francis Amendola, a Marine Corps veteran who served in World War II and Korea. Together they raised two daughters, Kathy and Lori, and a son, Deano.
Anne had a passion for all things beautiful—music, art, antiques, and fashion. She loved decorating and every home the family lived in (they moved a lot!) had Anne’s distinctive touch. When the kids were older, Anne returned to the workplace and was employed by Estee Lauder as a lipstick flamer at their production facility in Melville, NY.
Anne also enjoyed cooking, eating out, shopping, and laughing—but her greatest love was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, who passed away in 2018. Anne is survived by her daughter Kathy; her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Louis; her son and daughter-in-law, Deano and Dina, her grandchildren, Victoria and Dominic; her brothers-in-law, John and Franklin; her sisters-in-law, Antoinette, Marian, and Phyllis; and many nieces and nephews.
Anne’s ashes will be interred with her husband, Raymond, at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robin Hood Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. https://give.robinhood.org/give/282907/#!/donation/checkout
