Anna Schwarting

d. December 27, 2023

Anne Schwarting of East Moriches passed away peacefully in her home on December 27, 2023. Hours before passing, Pastor Fleishmann lovingly conducted a beautiful prayer service with all her family members in her presence.  We were all able to say good-bye to Mom in peace.

Anne was born March 15th, 1923 in NYC to Lawrence and Mary Frantin.  Anne was the eldest in her family and had two younger sisters, Marie and Eleanor.  When Anne was a young girl her parents bought a home in Hempstead, NY. Anne was a studious young girl and studied violin and numerous languages.  Upon completion of Hempstead HS in 1941 she attended business school in Manhattan.  Her first job was in an office at the newly built Empire State Building.

One day in 1946, Anne decided to go to a roller rink where she was asked by two handsome young men to join in a trio roller skate.  One of those men was Bernard Schwarting.  Their relationship blossomed quickly and they were married in November of 1946.

Anne and Bernard shared a beautiful and steadfastly loving relationship for nearly 50 years. They were devoted parents to 3 daughters, Nevada Brannon (Hollis), Marcia Chojnacky (Mike) and Sandra Carter (Tom).

Anne was a very proud grandmother to Shawn, Rebecca, Lorrie, Cliff, Kristen, Brady, Brian, Byron, Brandon and Kasten.  As Anne’s grandchildren grew she was always happy to attend all of their significant milestones. She lovingly and proudly accepted their respective spouses into the family. She adored becoming a great-grandmother to Chris, Michael, Jacob, Ayden, Samantha, Clancy, Hadley, Owen, Charlotte, Makenzie, Mackenzie, Emilie, Riley, Addison, Emma, Beckham and Collins.

Anne held many roles in her long life.  She left her business life behind to become a very supportive farmer’s wife.  It was a demanding lifestyle but one she would never had traded, since she adored her husband.  Their love for each other was grounded in faith and they were active members of Christ Lutheran Church. In addition to her family, Anne loved extended family, friends, gardening, was an active member of The Moriches Bay Garden Club. She loved to travel, horse-back ride and cross-country ski.  Anne was proud to be a book-keeper at Ringhoff’s Fuel Company for nearly 30 years.
