Andrew Kiss, affectionately known as Andy, passed away on April 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and dedication to his family. Born on July 2, 1939, in Sarospatak, Hungary, he embarked on a remarkable journey that touched the lives of many.
In 1956, during the Hungarian uprising, Andy came to the United States seeking refuge and found a new home. He resided with his sponsors Howard and Barbara Schiller in Queens, NY, where he mastered the English language, graduated from high school, and proudly became an American citizen. His commitment to his new country was further exemplified by his five years of service in the Army.
Andy's entrepreneurial spirit led him to start a tool and die business in the garage of his first home. He later joined forces with his Brother-in-Law, Vincent Marino, continuing his successful career in the tool and die industry. His dedication to hard work was unwavering, always ensuring the well-being of his family.
Described as quiet and kind-hearted, Andy's presence brought warmth and comfort to those around him. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed golf, bowling, and soccer while excelling as an athlete in these pursuits.
Survived by his wife Catherine Kiss and their children Janet Arena (Stephen), Andrew Kiss (Christine), Edward Kiss; as well as his brothers Tibor Kiss and Gyorgy Kiss. Andrew also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Madeline Arena, Stephen Arena, Kathryn Arena, Andrew J. Kiss, and Patrick Kiss.
Andy will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and many dear friends including Francis Schneeberg and her two children, Paul and Lara.
In this time of sorrow, family members Jozsef Kiss (brother), Theresa Papp Kniazoviczky (mother), and Andrew Kiss (father) await him in eternal peace.
Services honoring Andy's life will be held on May 7th at Moloney’s Hauppauge Funeral Home in Hauppauge, NY. A visitation is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a Prayer Service at 11:30 AM.
Andy's memory will live on through the love he shared with his family and friends—a true testament to a life well lived.
