Adelina M. Arroyo
August 18, 1922 – April 6, 2018
Born Adelina Mary Guerra in Philadelphia, PA to Ismael and Isabel Guerra, Adelina attended John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School in Philly, class of 1941. She married Anthony T. Arroyo in September 1941 and was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She raised six children with the family relocating to East Northport, NY in 1961 when Tony got a job at Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage. She was a lifelong artist who also volunteered at Kings Park Psychiatric Hospital painting murals for the children’s ward. After moving to Delmar, MD in 1982 for retirement, she attended classes at Salisbury University graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor’s Degree, magna cum laude, subsequently winning awards for her oil and acrylic paintings locally. Adelina is survived by her six children: Anthony T. Arroyo, Jr., Linda Suttmeier, Richard, Arthur, Raymond and Elizabeth Hensley, fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church in East Northport on Saturday, April 14 at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to her beloved high school Alma Mater, John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School, 311 N. 19th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103
